I'm Elroe. I'm from Africa, Ethiopia. I'm currently attending BYUI studying Computer Science. I enjoy anything outdoors. Basketball, football, spike ball, and hiking are some sports I enjoy. Top Ten Important lessons / Concepts

This list is to help remember the valuable and important lessons learned while learning about family relations. Families are the center part of Gods plan. Learning about families has really changed me. This will be my final blog post. I enjoyed learning and sharing with you what I learn in class and in reading. Here are my top ten list: Communication theories: System theories reveal the unnoticed systems in our routines and interactions. Exchange theory emphasizes reciprocity and what we expect in return. Conflict theory arises when personal desires clash, often due to social inequality or differing moral perspectives. Symbolic interaction theory shows how we imitate behaviors, especially in challenging situations. Boundaries in relationships: Setting boundaries within a marriage is important for protecting the wellbeing, respect, and individuality of both partners. A persons sacrifice for the family.

This week I read an article about how immigration affects the family. In the article, it talked about families making the decision, taking action, and the initial purpose for immigrating illegally. Do you know someone who has immigrated? Have you yourself immigrated? As a person who was born and raised in Ethiopia, I have seen relatives, friends, and neighbors immigrate. This is a big deal! Have you thought of the process? Where to start? How it ends? What is the leading cause of immigrating? The questions are endless. The risks are also endless. Making this journey illegally is like walking through a minefield blindfolded, hoping and praying your next step won’t be your last. Let me begin by sharing by how the thought of leaving begins.
